A Bit More About Me

I am from rural Wisconsin and completed my PhD in Sociology and Human Rights at the University of Minnesota in 2014. Since then, I’ve been a professor in the Department of Sociology at The Ohio State University. I’m a full professor and am also Director of Undergraduate Studies.

I teach classes on genocide, global crime, violence, qualitative methods, and teaching. I also lead Ohio State’s education abroad course in Rwanda every summer. Apart from teaching and research, I enjoy consulting with nonprofits, museums, and governments regarding atrocity prevention and response. You can find more on my C.V., which you can access here.

I am a mom, an avid traveler, and a lover of donuts. My heart is in the Midwest but also in Rwanda, where I’ve also had the privilege to live and work.
